A unique event in the country, the national festival of painted eggs is organized annually on ,,Shrove Tuesday” at the beginning of the Big Fasting, wishing to point out the beautiful tradition of this area – the egg painting- and all at once to bring Ciocanesti into the world’s attention as a museum-commune.
The event program involves, besides the painted eggs contest, folkloric festivals of Bukovinean folk music, happy moments, fanfare music, artisan exhibitions, popular costume parade, etc. On this occasion popular craftsmen in the country and abroad meet in the egg painting contest, rewarding the talents that keep the authentic styles, but also the new creation in the spirit of the traditional art. The young talents find their place among the participants and competitors, but also among the prize winners.
